Dublin City University is a university situated between Glasnevin, Santry, Ballymun and Whitehall on the Northside of Dublin in Ireland. Created as the National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin in 1975, it enrolled its first students in 1980 and was elevated to university status in 1989 by statute.The university currently has around 6,000 undergraduate students, over 600 research postgraduates, 1,800 taught postgraduate students and over 45,000 alumni. In addition the university has around 1,100 distance education students.The University has been designated as a Changemaker Campus by Ashoka U for its work in social innovation in higher education.There were 440 academic staff in 2006. Notable members of the academic staff include former Taoiseach John Bruton and "thinking" Guru Edward De Bono. Bruton accepted a position as Adjunct Faculty Member in the School of Law and Government in early 2004 and De Bono accepted an adjunct Professorship in the university in mid-2005.

The Church of Ireland College of Education or C.I.C.E. as it is more commonly known is one of five Irish Colleges of Education which provide a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree, the qualification generally required to teach in Irish primary schools. Its degrees are awarded by Trinity College/University of Dublin just like Coláiste Mhuire, Marino and Froebel College of Education. The college is located in Rathmines in Dublin.The College also provides postgraduate courses in Learning Support and Special Educational Needs and a Certificate Course for Special Needs Assistants.HistoryThe history of The Church of Ireland College of Education dates from 1811 when a primary teacher training college known as The Kildare Place Training Institution was founded in Dublin by the Society for Promoting Education of the Poor in Ireland. In the 1850s this institution was taken over by the Church Education Society for the purpose of training Anglican teachers for church schools. This College was taken over in 1878 by the General Synod of the Church of Ireland and six years later became a recognised denominational college with the Archbishop of Dublin as ex officio manager and Chairman of the Board of Governors. In 1884 under the guidance of Archbishop Plunket affiliated to the state national school system.In the 1970s a Bachelor of Education degree was introduced and since then has been taught jointly by Trinity College, University of Dublin and The Church of Ireland College of Education. It is also the oldest teacher training establishment in Ireland. While, it holds the fewest students in comparison to the other colleges, it is renowned for its esteemed graduates.

Warnborough College was not affiliated with the University of Oxford. It offered study abroad programmes and catered largely to American undergraduate and graduate students who would spend a semester or year abroad as part of their academic programme. Other offerings included Warnborough College International Summer Schools and a venue for summer conferences. It was founded on Warnborough Road in North Oxford in 1973 and moved to Yatscombe Hall, former home to the Greek scholar Gilbert Murray and Lord Shawcross, at Boars Hill about four miles south from the city of Oxford in 1976. The Boars Hill facilities included a lodge for the teaching staff and two Victorian Gothic mansions, one used as the women's dorm and one used as a men's dorm and for classes.

Griffith College Dublin (GCD)is a private third level college in the Republic of Ireland. It is based in and named after the former Griffith Barracks on the South Circular Road in Dublin. It offers courses accredited by a number of institutions and bodies in Ireland and Britain. In 2008 it had 8,500 students studying on a full- or part-time basis.HistoryThe college was established in 1974 by Diarmuid Hegarty and incorporated in 1978 as the Business and Accounting Training (BAT). Originally located on Morehamption Road, in 1991 the Business and Accounting College moved from Milltown Park, Ranelagh, Dublin 6, to the Griffith Barracks site changed its name to Griffith College Dublin.ACA courses were delivered since 1974 and CPA courses shortly after that. In 1983 BAT commenced delivering ACCA courses and has done so ever since, delivering courses not only in Dublin but in Cork, Limerick, Drogheda, Moscow and as of 2008 in Naas, students achieving 268 placings/prize-winners within the last few years. Griffith have run CPA courses in Dublin, Cork and Ennis, Chartered Accountants Ireland (ACA) courses in Dublin, Limerick, Kilkenny and Waterford, in the past courses have been run in Belfast.In 1990 the first degree course was offered by Griffith College in computer science, it was validated by the University of Ulster, it was followed in 1992 by a business studies degree, this arrangement ceased in 1996 and the degrees were validated by Irish National Council for Educational Awards (NCEA) the predecessor of HETAC.
