The MA in Political Communicatione deals with the major issues in the contemporary political communication arena including spin, agenda-setting, public opinion formation, public relations, political advertising and new media. Modules analyse the impact of different political communication strategies on the political process, government, policy-making and also in the non-governmental area. Participants are also exposed to the history of media and politics in Ireland and elsewhere. Students are encouraged to approach political communication in a critically manner and particular emphasis is placed on original research and independent study. Guest speakers and research projects are a central part of the programme. The progamme will interest those with an interest in politics and political communication, public relations, media, journalism and public policy formation. The content will also be attractive to those seeking to develop a critical perspective on their own career by means of having a theoretical framework to understand, evaluate and assess different aspects of the political communication process. The programme may be taken full-time (one year) or part-time (two years).The programme consists of taught modules for two semesters along with the completion of a dissertation - a major piece of academic research in the political communication area which is submitted in September. Lectures and seminars are, as far as possible, timetabled in the late afternoon and evening (4pm-9pm) to accommodate those at work.

All-Ireland Conference for Doctoral Researchers in Education The School of Education, University College Dublin and the School of Education, Queen’s University are to jointly host the fifth all Ireland conference for Doctoral students in Education in May 2013. The conference aims to provide a forum for doctoral students from all over Ireland to come together in a supportive environment to present and discuss their research and extend their understanding of advanced research in education. The conference format consists of paper and poster presentation, as well as round table sessions and has been generously supported by SCOTENS and the ESAI through the provision of travel bursaries. The conference is eager to attract submissions from those pursing doctoral studies on all aspects of education, and from across all higher education institutions on the island of Ireland. It is especially useful for encouraging the formation of professional links among educators and researchers in education who are at the earlier phases of their research careers.

The Graduate Students' Union or Aontas na nIarchéimithe in Irish is an independent body which represents graduate students in Trinity College, Dublin.
