At the Galway school of boat building Jim and son Conall continue the Horgan family tradition of boat building that goes back to the 1950's in Youghal. We continue that tradition in Galway today, working on a project-by-project basis. Over 200 traditional wooden boats have been built in that time, ranging from 24' Galway Hookers (''An Muirin''), Scandinavian/Irish Yawls, sailing currachs, beach boats and tenders, and the restoration of many old hookers including the 42' ''Clíona na Toinne''. Jim has recently taught successful boat building classes in Yaughal, Waterford, Killala, Kinvara, the Aran Islands and, this year, Lettermore.

The Language Room Arklow offers General English classes for foreigners with speciqal discounts for Aupairs. Business English classes and preparation courses for Cambridge University exams such as Ket, Pet and First Certificate are also available. All courses are provided by qualified TEFL teachers with years of experience and a level 7 or 8 degree. The Language Room teachers are also trained and qualified examiners for Cambridge University.

For the third summer in a row, Crossroads is sponsoring a pro-life walk around Ireland starting in Dublin on Monday, June 10th and ending in Dublin on Saturday, July 6th. The walk will cover over 1000km, circling the island with weekend stops in Cork, Galway, Limerick, Derry and Belfast. The group will take turns walking each day and will also attend daily Mass and pray the rosary as they walk. Crossroads began sponsoring walks across America in 1995 as a response to the words of Blessed John Paul II at World Youth Day in Denver in 1993 when the Holy Father spoke directly to the youth of the world about the need for them to respond to the Churches call to help Build a Culture of Life. "The church needs your energies, your enthusiasm, your youthful ideas, in order to make the Gospel of life penetrate the fabric of society, transforming people's hearts and the structures of society in order to create a civilization of true justice and love." (Blessed John Paul II, World Youth Day Denver, 1993) The Holy Father encouraged the youth in this mission by saying "In your hands, carry the cross of Christ. On your lips, the words of life. In your hearts, the saving grace of the Lord." For the past 17 years, Crossroads has sponsored pro-life walks in response to Blessed John Paul II challenge. Along with the walk in Ireland, Crossroads is also sponsoring 4 walks across the United States and 1 walk across Canada. Over 650 college students have participated on the walks throughout the past 17 years and through their efforts they have been able to save lives and change hearts.

Maebh Walsh brings to “It’s Sew Easy with Maebh”, her new sewing school, more than 30 years experience as a sewing teacher and fashion designer. Maebh started teaching sewing (dressmaking and soft furnishings), in Stillorgan and Blackrock, working with both adults and teenagers, in the 80s. Her students ranged in experience from complete beginners to competent sewers, who wanted to further develop their skills. In 2008, she began working in Dun Laoghaire, at Roisin Cross Silks, where she taught her students how to make their own clothes, curtains, roman blinds, cushions and much more. Moate Business College provides further education - often referred to as 'post leaving certificate' or 'PLC' courses – to the population of the Irish midlands. From small beginnings in 1991 the college has grown to its current maximum capacity of almost 500 full-time students. On completion of the Irish Leaving Certificate (end of secondary school examination) or its equivalent, students are entitled to apply to MBC for a place on one of its 12 courses. We provide courses of one or two years duration. Our principal awarding body is the (Irish) Further Education & Training Awards Council. A Fetac Level 5 qualification takes one year and a Fetac Level 6 qualification can be secured in a subsequent year on successful completion of the level 5.
