North West Equine Assisted Therapy

North West Equine Assisted Therapy

Ballinaglack, Ballybofey ,
Equine Assisted Therapy is a therapy where you learn about yourself, other people and horsemanship skills by participating in activities with horses. It is where horses help people with the challenges they are facing; The participant learns how to build a relationship with a horse, how to overcome fears, build trust, respect, compassion, develop communications skills, problem solving and coping techniques. It helps improve self-confidence and self-esteem. The benefits and skills acquired are transferrable to other areas of ordinary day-to-day life. It has been particularly beneficial for people with autism, mental ill health and a wide range of disabilities by allowing them to identify their challenges and learning how to overcome them. Sessions involve working with the horse on the ground using experiential learning techniques to address each individual's challenges. Sessions can be on a one to one or group setting.
