Celtic Dragon Martial Arts and Fitness was established in 2010 by Sensei John Fitzgerald, in association with the Pat Rockett Martial Arts Academy.
John first studied Martial Arts while in the Naval Service, properly starting training in 2003. Lucky enough to be offered an assistant instructor position within a few months of starting Martial arts, due to his naval service training, a true love of all martial arts was born.
After 7 years of full time teaching in Waterford, Dungarvan, Tramore including a few month long trips to Boston, USA, and sampling a myriad of martial arts styles, John felt a new era in martial arts had arrived. Over his career in Martial Arts to date, he has trained with numerous martial art masters such as Doju-nim Ji Han Jae(Founder of Hapkido), Master Oliver Garduce and Master Jesi Pablo (Kombatan) and Sifu Glen Doyle ( Irish Stick Fighting), to name but a few.
The main styles Now concentrated on are Freestyle Kickboxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Kombatan(Philipino stickfighting) and C.f.s(control fighting system).
Celtic Dragon Freestyle Kickboxing is a combination of all techniques and drills from each of those preferred styles, taught in a fun, safe and high energy environment. We train hard, over 10+ kickboxing classes for adults, morning and evening and 4 classes for kids each week. We have our own specific teens classes, with a big focus on self defence and confidence to help build a stronger youth culture in our locale and in time, throughout Ireland.
The first full-time, dedicated martial arts and fitness gym in New Ross, Celtic Dragon Martial Arts and Fitness, offers great martial arts training in Kickboxing, Kombatan, C.F.S, Xtreme martial arts and self defence, high -energy and calorie burning Cardio kickboxing and circuit training, relaxation with some yoga, regular out of gym training days like Boot Camps all overseen by Sensei John Fitzgerald 2nd dan Kickboxing, 1st dan Kombatan, level 3 C.F.S.
