Castlerea Swimming Pool is currently under threat of closure due to cut backs in the Council budget. This page aims to raise awareness of that fact in the hope that the Community of Castlerea and surrounding areas will get together to ensure we do not lose one of the longest standing and best loved public spaces in the County. Please do whatever you can to support this page over the coming days and weeks as the battle is reaching its peak. The pool is now officially closed two days a week this summer, and will open two weeks later than usual. If we do not get out and support this now we face losing this wonderful asset completely, and for all time. Keep an eye on here for updates and news

Back2Back Marathons in Clonakilty - 15th & 16th February 2014. The inspiring Clonakilty full Waterfront Marathon course of 26.2 mile (42K) is ran yearly in December along some of West Corks most spectacular coastal roads. But to do it twice over two days would surely capture the fighting spirit of any endurance runner’s heart. Run the Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon route on Saturday 16th February and again the following day, 17th February. The race is on a fully certified AAI course and all participants will be provided with 2 finishers medals and 2 unique Back2Back tech t-shirts (one for each day). The Race will be fully timed and supported. A unique opportunity to truly "find yourself" and test your endurance. Two Marathons, Two medals, Two t-shirts, One weekend. Truly original.
