This programme is overseen by our Callan Method Course Director, Harish Verma. Harish, who is English, graduated from Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, Lancashire and has been teaching Callan Method for six years. He has been a Callan Method teacher trainer for three years. Harish is selecting only the most qualified, effective, dynamic and dedicated Callan Method teachers for his team. These include John Paul, who is Irish and has been teaching Callan Method for eight years. John Paul joined ELTA when we first opened in 2005 and is a RELSA-qualified English language teacher. He is also a professional teacher in the state sector in Ireland and a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and the Marino Institute of Education. Harish's team also includes Emily. Emily is Irish and has been teaching Callan Method for three years. She is a CELTA-qualified English language teacher and a graduate of Trinity College Dublin. Emily is a brilliant and dedicated teacher. All teachers selected for the Callan Method team at ELTA are native English speakers, university graduates and capable to delivering the Callan Method to the highest standards. One of the outcomes of ELTA becoming a government-recognized school with permission to accept International Register students, was the amazing cultural diversity that this has produced within the school. One day a teacher pointed out that he had ten students in his class, and every single one of them was of a different nationality. While this is culturally enriching for the student, from the teacher's point of view it produces the perfect learning environment: the only common language is English. One of the most important developments that has been brought to our attention is the acute need for qualified English Language Teachers in the non-English speaking world. And so we created our Teacher Training Programme for Non-Native Speakers of English. Our graduates have gone back to South Korea and Brazil where they are successfully pursuing careers as English language teachers, and two of our graduates have opened their own English speaking kindergarten in Seoul.
