The creche is located in Glentaun Village in Ballinasloe. It was purpose-built in 2007. From the outside it looks the same as all the other bungalows, but the inside is completely different. We have one large communal playroom in which all the age-groups are together. However, each age-group has a designated worker, and the room is partitioned to facilitate different activities. We have two nappy-changing areas, one for 1-2 year olds, and one for 2 yrs and above. We have low-level toilets or potties to facilitate toilet-training. We have a separate sleeping room for 1-2 yr olds. We have 4 cots and each child has their own designated bedding, which is never shared. All details of naps are recorded. Our kitchen is registered with the H.S.E and is inspected bi-annually. We always achieve a good report and this is important as we provide all meals and snacks for the children in our care. We operate a three-week menu, so that parents know at a glance what food their child has had on the day. We have a Montessori Playschool which is registered with the ECCE scheme and caters for 14 children. We have 2 staff in this room and operate an adult/child ratio of 1:7 in this room. This is operated for 38 weeks in the year and runs along with the school year. We have an excellent outside play-area. It has a soft-play surface, so is suitable and safe for even the smallest child. It is equipped with cars, tricycles, play-houses, slide and a sand-pit. It is enclosed and secured with two high locked gates, so it is very safe. We have excellent, friendly staff, and there is a good atmosphere. There is certainly a lot of laughter every day. We have ample parking at the front of the creche, with a turning circle to try and cut out the need for reversing. This is all to maximise the safety of the children. We do regular Fire Drills with the children, in accordance with the regulations. We are members of Early Childhood Ireland, who support us and offer regular training, www.earlychildhoodireland.com.

The Irish Archaeology Field School is an RPA certified field school and Irelands leading provider of university-accredited site based archaeological research and training. The ethos of the school is to provide an opportunity for students and enthusiasts of archaeology and anthropology to experience at first hand the excitement of archaeological excavation within an established research framework. Excavations are undertaken in a research environment led by a team of highly qualified and experienced archaeologists using the most sophisticated technologies, including GPS topographical survey, geophysics, photo-planning and more. In addition to the archaeological excavations, an extensive programme of cultural activities is on offer, including tours of historic sites, folklore, reconstructions, re-enactments, language, music, food and more.

At Rosemont After School we believe that activities of children during out-of-school-time can be as important to their growth and development as the time they spend in the classroom. During these non-school hours children will have the opportunities to participate in a variety of enriching activities, allowing them to explore new fields of interest while engaging in fun, academic activities and free play. These activities are designed to support and expand the physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills experienced in school. Rosemont After School was established in 2012, to cater for the needs of working parents with school going children from 3rd class up in Sandyford and surrounding areas. This is an initiative of Rosemont School.  Our aim is to take the worrying out of organising school pickups, homework and meals so that parents have complete peace of mind knowing that their child is in a safe and stimulating environment where their intellectual, creative, social, physical and emotional abilities are further developed. The Library supports the information needs of students on the full-time and part-time programmes offered by the Institute, ranging from certificate through to honours degree and post-graduate Masters and Doctoral level.

The Library at DkIT Institute of Technology (DkIT) is located in the Dr T.K. Whitaker building. The facility provides learning and research support to 5,000 + students and staff with 400 study spaces, over 50,000 books and journals and access to a range of online databases. There are 100 PCs for project and research work as well as wireless internet access on two floors. The Library’s collection is mainly academic to support DkIT’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. There is also an eclectic fiction collection as well as films on DVD and music CDs. The Library building was named after Dr. Whitaker in recognition of his contribution to the Irish economy. Books donated by him are available for consultation in the TK Whitaker collection.

The Business School at AIT consists of two departments: Business Studies; Accounting and Business Computing. The courses offered by the School cover a wide range of areas from accountancy to management, equine studies to computing, and much more. The learning process within the Business School takes place in an environment where you have access to modern resources, expert staff knowledge, links with employers and the latest technology. Opportunities exist to study at partner institutions overseas – either on a short-term or a long-term basis – which can add to your educational experience at AIT.
