Tramore Amusements

Tramore Amusements

Strand Road, Waterford ,
Ok, we'll be quick with this. Tramore Amusements is a right-on, rollicking, rocking good time and we want you to be part of it. And what is it that makes us so good you ask? Well, it might be our spine-tingling The Spookie Ghost Train or the bish-bosh banging of The Bumpers. Perhaps it's the whirlwind heart-in-mouth Future Dance or the classic Waltzers. But then again, you wouldn't want to miss out on Leisureland where you can play golf in a pirate's back yard or hop on our steam train and see the park in style. You can even walk on water! Well, sort of. Look, the thing is, we're special at Tramore Amusements and it makes us happy when we make your memories. So come on down, laugh, munch, giggle, spin, flip, paddle, putt and give yourself a summery treat that you'll remember. Big love, Tramore Amusements.

Malahide Castle and Gardens

Malahide Castle and Gardens

Malahide Castle is re-opening on Monday 15th October offering visitors a new and enhanced visitor experience, incorporating new visitor centre, interactive exhibition areas and walled botanical garden. Some history of the Castle and Gardens: In 1185 Henry II of England granted 600 acres of land in Malahide to Richard Talbot. Malahide Castle was the home of the Talbot family until 1976 when the estate was sold to Fingal County Council. The castle was originally a Norman Tower House until the last quarter of the 18th century when it was extended and castellated. The remarkable apartments have not been modernised. The principal rooms are the Oak Room, the Great Hall, the two Drawing Rooms, the Library, the Nursery and the Bedrooms which are furnished with period furniture. There is also a fine Portrait collection. The 5th Lord Richard Talbot married Emily, great grand daughter of James Boswell, biographer of Dr. Johnson and the contents of the Boswell house came to Malahide in 1914. Among the items was the famous cabinet in which the world celebrated Boswell papers were discovered. The Gardens were created by Lord Milo Talbot after 1948, and display almost 5,000 species in its plant collection, including a fine collection of Australasian and Chilean plants, the most important collection of its type after Kew Gardens in London.
