Workman's Den Cinema Club

Workman's Den Cinema Club

The Workman’s Club, 10 Wellington Quay, Dublin ,
The idea behind the Workman's Den Cinema Club is that a group of people will meet once a month to watch a feature film in a relaxed atmosphere in the Workmans Club on Wellington Quay. The club started as low key egalitarian group in a different location (Denzille Lane Cinema) by the great Ciaran Wrenn. It's FREE in, and everyone that comes has an opportunity to choose the following month's film - everyone writes their name and their choice and at the end of the evening a draw will be made! People are free to invite people to join the club, the more the merrier. SHORT FILM SUBMISSIONS We preceed the feature presentation with a short film. Filmmakers must submit their short film enties to me directly on DVD only at (Cathal Nally, 6 Iona Avenue, Drumcondra, Dublin 9.) Email: mullingarian@hotmail.com. Short films can be no longer than 20 minutes. Short films can be of any genre, and can be live action, animation or short documentary subjects. Short films must have been produced after Jan 1st 2010. Submissions are FREE, but the chosen filmmaker must pay a screening fee of 10 euro prior to their film being screened. Payments are to be made directly to myself in cash. In June 2014 (after 12 months worth of short films screened) an award will given to the film that is considered the favourite (not the best) along with a cash prize of 120 euro (which is all the 10 euro fees collected throughout the year) and a cool Certificate of achievment. An independent jury will select the winner and not myself. TECHNICAL INFO All screenings are on standard DVD that must work in a standard DVD player. No flash drives, files or Blu-Ray accepted. Foreign language films must have English subtitles. Short Films must be 20 mins or less.
Bring a Cinema to Roscrea

Bring a Cinema to Roscrea

This page has been created to throw light on the fact that for many years Roscrea has been devoid of a cinema. There are many sites available in the town lying idle with more than adequate space for the provision of a cinema and indeed a more than adequate population to make one a success. The aim here is to get enough people on board in order for me to push this project forward to the relevant people and perhaps even gain some media attention (Tipp FM, The Midland Tribune, The Tipperary Star etc.). For this to come to fruition I need your support so please leave positive comments, 'like' the page and re-post whenever you can. All ideas and contributions are welcome. Don't hesitate to come forward with them. If we get a loud enough voice someone WILL listen. Seán O'Sullivan (Admin)
