“This is just how I imagined Ireland to be” is how one visitor described their feelings after a walk along the Connemara shore with Walking West. Our guides interpret the rugged landscape and how this shaped the history, traditions, language and culture of the Connemara region and influenced the stories of its people. Walking West offers coastal, countryside, island and hill walks in geographically unique and culturally rich Connemara. Each experience is tailored to the individual or group, allowing visitors to engage with the local community, share moments of their lives, belong to the Connemara of today yet be spellbound by its past. Feel the exhilaration of walking to a deserted island at low tide; immerse yourself in tradition by sailing into Ireland’s past on a 200-year-old boat; arouse your senses with sights, sounds, smells and tastes of Irish culture…just as you had imagined it might be!
