Established in Sligo Town in 1984, McCormack’s Mace and Fuel Distribution business now supplies Counties Leitrim, Sligo, Cavan, Mayo and Meath with all its daily grocery and fuel needs. But it wasn’t too far from Sligo that John McCormack was born and raised in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. McCormack’s started off in the family business run by Barney and Mae, a petrol station and garage on the Carrick road in Drumshanbo. They also operated a thriving farm machinery business, selling and repairing farm machinery throughout the country. Since opening their first petrol station and tyre store on Mail Coach Road in Sligo 28 years ago, two years later, in 1986, McCormack Fuels was established and providing quality home heating oil, agri fuels, petrol and diesel. The Fuels business has grown over the years and extended into Cavan with the acquisition of Breffni Oil, Killeshandra and in 2009 the acquisition of LMS Oil in Sligo. Today, McCormack’s operate four oil depots in the region with facilities in Carrick-on-Shannon, Ballina, Killeshandra and Finisklin, Sligo. Sligo Drama Circle, celebrating more than fifty years of drama in Sligo, represents the best tradition of drama in Ireland's North-West. From very humble beginnings in the 1950's where many Sligo people got the chance to tread the boards of Sligo Town Hall, to the present day where young and old have the chance to grace the stage of the Hawk's Well Theatre, Sligo Drama Circle have been to the forefront in bringing to Sligo audiences the best of Irish and international theatre. Having grown up in an Ireland where there were no televisions and limited cinema, Sligo Drama Circle and its forerunner, Sligo Unknown Players, played an essential role in entertaining the people of Sligo. This web site aims to bring together to a wide audience the history and traditions of our organisation as well as keeping the wider public up to date with upcoming events. We hope that the web site will constantly evolve and develop and that we can trace as many photographs and articles to add to the rich oral heritage that has been passed on to this generation by those that had the foresight to commence the performance of amateur drama for the people of Sligo and the North-West.

St. Angela's College, Sligo is a college of the National University of Ireland, Galway since 2006. Prior to this, since 1978, the college was a recognised college of the National University of Ireland.
