More about Cultivate Established in 2000, Cultivate has played a key role in furthering the profile of sustainability in Ireland over the past decade through the research, development, sourcing and publishing of both online and printed informational resources, education programmes and networking events. With offices in Dublin and Cloughjordan, offering both urban and rural reach, the organisation has built an unrivalled nationwide network of partners working in the Green Economy. This network was strengthened and expanded most recently through the 2010-2011 Green Works programme which brought together industry experts, entrepreneurs and educators from across the country to provide Green Economy training to more than 1800 jobseekers. The organisation also has significant experience in organising networking events through its annual Convergence Festival and Global Green @ Electric Picnic. Other important events in our work programme include a 2-day green business showcase entitled Working the Green Economy, a one-day Green Building Forum and one-day conference Rethinking the City for design professionals. In addition, Cultivate operates a co-working space for green entrepreneurs in its Dublin centre, as well as hosting Éasca, Ireland's Ecological and Sustainable Construction Association, and PHAI, the Passive House Association Ireland. Cultivate has produced many information packages over the years from the original printed Source Book, a guide and directory of green businesses and sustainability organisations operating in Ireland, to the Powerdown Show, a 10 part TV show exploring community responses to global energy and climate problems which has been broadcast in Ireland and internationally. A recent project has been to research and write a Green Strategy to assist Offaly Local Development Company in launching local enterprise and employment initiatives. Information on sustainability and the green economy has been disseminated on an ongoing basis through Cultivate’s family of websites: http://www.cultivate.ie, http://www.resilience.cultivate.ie, http://www.permaculture.cultivate.ie, http://www.cultivate.ie/gw Cultivate maintains close links with ...many NGOs and sustainability organisations including The Village, ECO-UNESCO, Feasta and other members of the IEN network.
