Ballyfermot Information Technology was established in 1999 in response to an identified need for local IT training to assist the local community, residents, and local groups and organisations that were excluded from IT. Through Information Technology our goals are to assist people from various sectors of the community to gain the new ICT literacy skills needed in this Information Technology Age. ICT skills enable the whole community to communicate in a dynamic and equal way assisting in the personal, educational and social development. In 2006 the centre became a Community Service Project funded under the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs with a new company name of Ballyfermot IT Centre Social Economy Ltd. We have responded to the needs of our community by networking with new partners and developing new services to provide the requisite skills training for those who have become distanced from the labour market through loss of work, social or economic background. Kenpo Karate is a martial art that teaches Self-Defence, through 3 primary methods: 1. self-defence techniques 2. forms/kata and 3. sparring/kumite. Kenpo emphasises vital point attacks using punches, strikes and kicks. Self-defence techniques help Kenpo students develop their skills by allowing them to practice with different threatening situations and experiment with what-if scenarios. Initially, forms/katas help students to develop mental concentration and mental discipline. As they progress, the forms and katas help them to develop self-awareness and self-expression. Kumite/freestyle sparring is an exercise in which students test their skills, self-confidence, and self-control in a friendly competition among other class mates. It gives the opportunity to develop their reflexes and timing in a controlled environment while engaging in a sport activity.

Mỹ Sơn is a cluster of abandoned and partially ruined Hindu temples constructed between the 4th and the 14th century AD by the kings of Champa (Chiêm Thành in Vietnamese). The temples are dedicated to the worship of the god Shiva, known under various local names, the most important of which is "Bhadresvara."Mỹ Sơn is located near the village of Duy Phú, in the administrative district of Duy Xuyên in Quảng Nam Province in Central Vietnam, 69 km southwest of Da Nang, and approximately 10 km from the historic town of Trà Kiệu. The temples are in a valley roughly two kilometres wide that is surrounded by two mountain ranges.From the 4th to the 14th century AD, the valley at Mỹ Sơn was a site of religious ceremony for kings of the ruling dynasties of Champa, as well as a burial place for Cham royalty and national heroes. It was closely associated with the nearby Cham cities of Indrapura (Đồng Dương) and Simhapura (Trà Kiệu). At one time, the site encompassed over 70 temples as well as numerous stele bearing historically important inscriptions in Sanskrit and Cham.Mỹ Sơn is perhaps the longest inhabited archaeological site in Indochina, but a large majority of its architecture was destroyed by US carpet bombing during a single week of the Vietnam War.
