Sligo comes alive on Wednesday the 1st of August with the start of the annual Sligo Lúnasa Festival, the festival runs for 7 days culminating on the Wednesday 7th of August 2013 The Sligo Lúnasa Festival will feature a myriad of events from café culture to pub gigs, a two-day race meeting and family entertainment. The beauty of these events especially in these recessionary times is that over 95% of them are free. Sligo is throwing one big party. The party is for everyone and has a myriad of events to suit all ages and musical preferences ensuring that both festival goers and promoters alike will enjoy local hospitality at its best. Whether your preference is a small intimate and relaxing gig in a café or a lively pub session, it’s all there. Sligo Live 2013 runs from 23rd October to 28th October over the October Bank Holiday. the festival celebrates folk, roots and indie music. 2013 is the year of the 'Gathering' where all Irish people and people who have an interest or affiliation with Ireland are welcomed back to Ireland and Sligo Live are hosting 'Coleman's Call' inviting all traditional musicians and music lovers to Sligo for the October long weekend. The renowned Fiddler of Dooney Competition will again be hosted by Sligo Live. An exciting full bill will be announced over the coming months. Check back soon.

Sligo Summer Festival is a celebration of Music, Sport and Culture featuring live open air music concerts, soapbox derby, street performances, a 10km Lough Gill swim & much more! There will be a state of the art stage built especially for the event in STEPHEN STREET CAR PARK in the centre of Sligo town for a festival concert which will take place from 6pm - 11pm on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th of august 2013, the event will feature national as well as local acts including RYAN SHERIDAN,THE ORIGINAL RUDEBOYS, KILA, THE QUAKERS, DEAN GURRIE,SHARON SHANNON & THE BIG BAND, MUNDY, THE RAGGAMUFFINS AND TABBY! As well as the music there will be street celebrations and other activities including family fun events, a soapbox derby and a Ball Race down The Mall, a 10k Lough Gill swim, a busking competition, street performers and lots more! Sligo races will also take place on august 7th and 8th (ladies day) adding even more to the Sligo Summer Festival 2013!
