GOAL Mile Mohill

GOAL Mile Mohill

Marion College Grounds, Mohill, Leitrim, Mohill ,
The GOAL Mile gives friends, family and neighbours the chance to simply run or walk a Mile, and make a donation to GOAL. The popular fundraiser has grown and grown over the years, and is now an integral part of the Christmas period for thousands of people. Last year, GOAL Miles took place in 100 locations around Ireland and raised in excess of €158,000 for GOAL’s programmes in the developing world. GOAL could not have done this without those who took part in and, in particular, those who organised Miles up and down the country. Your continued support is hugely appreciated as it helps GOAL to make a real difference in the 13 countries where we work. Please do what you can to help make this year’s GOAL Mile the biggest yet! GOAL Mile FAQ Do I need to register in advance for the GOAL Mile? No, it is not a requirement to register in advance and you can just turn up on the day and take part. Do I need to register in advance for the Ultra GOAL Mile? Yes, you do need to register in advance. The Ultra GOAL Mile is open to a team of 5, 13 or 26 people so you need to register your Company and team name to GOAL so we can include your team and time on our Leader Board. How can I find out about my nearest GOAL Mile? It’s simple, Just log onto the GOAL Mile page on the GOAL website and click on the map to see a full list of all GOAL Miles around Ireland. What other information can I see on the Google map of all the GOAL Miles? Here you will find the name of the organiser and contact details, Facebook link along with the location, date and start time of the GOAL Mile. What if there is not a GOAL Mile near to where I live? No problem. If you cannot find one near to you why not hold one yourself. It’s easy and fun to do. Call the GOAL office and speak to Cathy or email her at cbrooks@goal.ie for more information. How can I donate to the GOAL Mile? You can make a donation on the day, donate online through the GOAL website or Facebook page. Alternatively you can use your mobile phone and text the following; Text GOAL6 to 50300 to donate €6. What happens if the weather is bad? All GOAL Miles will take place unless the weather is deemed unsafe due to high winds, ice etc. Each organiser will make a decision on holding the event in their location on the day. Can I get sponsorship cards? Yes, you can get sponsorship cards. These are available from your local Mile organiser or from the GOAL office on 01 2809 779. Just ask for Carmel or email her at cdrumgoole@goal.ie for any additional information. What do I wear? There is no requirement to wear running shoes/sports gear as the Mile is all about holding an event in the community and having fun. You can run, walk or even crawl the Mile. Whatever is comfortable for you on the day. Who can take part? All ages can take part but if a mile location is particularly busy, buggies etc may not be allowed on the track. This is location dependent. Can I bring a dog? Again, this is location dependent but if there is an accident due to a dog (on or off a lead), no insurance claim can be made. Where does the money go? GOAL is currently working in 13 developing world countries: Ethiopia, Honduras, India, Kenya, Malawi, Niger, Sierra Leone, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Haiti. All monies raised will go towards our many relief programmes in these countries. How much money was raised in 2012? Due to the amazing generosity of people all around Ireland who turned up on the day and made a donation to GOAL, we raised in excess of €158,000. All of this was made possible by our wonderful GOAL Mile organisers. Can I help on the day? If you wish to help on the day, please contact your local Mile organiser. I know they would love your support.
