Drumhowan GAA
Drumhowan Geraldines are a rural GAA club in the heart of Co. Monaghan. We are situated in the Parish of Tullycorbet. There are two clubs in the parish. We cater for the rural areas in the north and south of the parish. Our pitch Pairc Mhic Eoin is situated to the southern end of the parish an equal distance from both the towns of Ballybay(parish town) and Castleblayney.
We are a small club with 40 adult playing members and 44 juvenile members and 175 adult non playing members. At the minute we have 28 coaches qualified at foundation level, however all of these are not at present actively coaching. At level 1 there are 7 coaches qualified, while we have 3 level 2 coaches.
At present we field 2 adult teams, an U14, U12, U10 and U8 teams under our own name. We are also amalgamated with our fellow parishioners Ballybay at U16 and Minor.
To fund the club each year our main income is a Friends of Drumhowan Scheme. We have 120 people who play €120 a year. To supplement the running costs of the club we also have 2 or 3 other small event a year. One example of this is our annual All-Ireland Football Draw.
At present we have 1 full sized playing pitch and a fully floodlit training pitch (full sized juvenile pitch). Our main pitch has a covered stand and grass banks and can hold around 1500 spectators with parking for around 500 cars. We also have four dressing rooms, a referee’s room and a fitness suite that still has to be equipped. At present we are currently completing our refurbishment of our community centre in partnership with our local community group.
