Trailer Knowledge

Menlough, Ballinasloe ,
About Us Trailer Knowledge was founded in February 2011 by Francis Craughwell, a Motor Engineer from Menlough, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. After 14 months in development and competing in the JFC Innovations Awards, Trailer Knowledge finally commenced trading on Friday 28 October 2011. After spending years working for organisations like Ward Motors, Galway Irish Crystal, The Galway Clinic, and Logstrup, Francis decided it was time to turn a 17 year hobby into a sustainably business and in the process fulfil a dream of working to help reduce Road Deaths and Safety on Irish Roads. Trailer Knowledge understands that trailer in general receive little or no servicing compared to cars, 4x4’s and vans, and that the biggest percentage of trailers in Ireland are generally one-off builds from small fabrication companies with little or no standards apply compares to our EU counterparts where the trailer stock are manly comprise of industrial manufactured trailers that are very well maintained. Over the course of the development stage, Trailer Knowledge found that nearly 70% of the trailer stock in Ireland does not have working Lights. As a result, stage 1 of Trailer Knowledge’s business plan was to set about tackling this problem by providing a full equipped On-Site Trailer Lighting Servicing Unit. Trailer Knowledge understand that trailer owners, especially farmers, find it inconvenient to have a trailer left into a repair shop for any number of days for servicing as they may require them in the event of an animal getting sick etc. With a interdiction of the New Trailer Laws coming into force over the coming 12 months, Trailer Knowledge are providing helpful information here on its web site to help everyone involved in towing and building trailers understand how the New laws effect them. With issues like "Weights", "EB Driving Licences", "Trailer Lights", "Trailer Construction" "Auto Revereable Braking Systems" (Now on all new trailers over 750kg sold on or after 9th June 2011 already in force) and "Mandatory Annual or Biannual Trailer Testing of all Car & Jeep Trailers" (Yes, It's not a case of "Will It" "But When". Trailer Testing could start as early as the beginning of 2013) With nearly 20 years experience in Trailer Lighting Systems Repair. The Village Creche & Montessori

3 Glentaun View, Glentaun Village,Creagh, Ballinasloe ,
The creche is located in Glentaun Village in Ballinasloe. It was purpose-built in 2007. From the outside it looks the same as all the other bungalows, but the inside is completely different. We have one large communal playroom in which all the age-groups are together. However, each age-group has a designated worker, and the room is partitioned to facilitate different activities. We have two nappy-changing areas, one for 1-2 year olds, and one for 2 yrs and above. We have low-level toilets or potties to facilitate toilet-training. We have a separate sleeping room for 1-2 yr olds. We have 4 cots and each child has their own designated bedding, which is never shared. All details of naps are recorded. Our kitchen is registered with the H.S.E and is inspected bi-annually. We always achieve a good report and this is important as we provide all meals and snacks for the children in our care. We operate a three-week menu, so that parents know at a glance what food their child has had on the day. We have a Montessori Playschool which is registered with the ECCE scheme and caters for 14 children. We have 2 staff in this room and operate an adult/child ratio of 1:7 in this room. This is operated for 38 weeks in the year and runs along with the school year. We have an excellent outside play-area. It has a soft-play surface, so is suitable and safe for even the smallest child. It is equipped with cars, tricycles, play-houses, slide and a sand-pit. It is enclosed and secured with two high locked gates, so it is very safe. We have excellent, friendly staff, and there is a good atmosphere. There is certainly a lot of laughter every day. We have ample parking at the front of the creche, with a turning circle to try and cut out the need for reversing. This is all to maximise the safety of the children. We do regular Fire Drills with the children, in accordance with the regulations. We are members of Early Childhood Ireland, who support us and offer regular training, www.earlychildhoodireland.com.
