Gorey Community School was located in Gorey County Wexford, Ireland. It is the largest school in Ireland with almost 1700 students.Background and HistoryGorey Community School was established in 1993, founded by Bishop levo following the amalgamation of the Loreto, Vocational and CBS schools.It now has a student population of over 1600 and a teaching staff of more than 100.The school occupies a large site of almost 20 acres (81,000 m2) which comprises playing fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts. In 2000 a new extension was opened. The construction of a second extension began in September 2007 and was completed in October 2008. The Kindergarten caters for children aged 3-5 years. It is open Mon - Thurs mornings 9.30am to 1pm. The Kindergarten is a home-like atmosphere; the children are actively involved in the daily rhythms of life including making and preparing food, setting the table and eating together. There is a large outdoor play area with sandpit, swings, see-saw and little willow houses with views across to Mount Gabriel. There are places available for this term and next.
