The ArtCo Gallery opened in 2008, it aims to give artists from across the North-West an opportunity to showcase and sell their work in a creative setting. The Create-A-Link art programme, set up by the Health Service Executive in Donegal as part of its Worklink North-West project aims to promote the positive role of the arts in health and well being. It also provides an understanding environment for people with mental health problems who are interested in exploring their creativity. Our gallery space allows graduates of the Create-A-Link art programme to exhibit their artwork which benefits them economically and allows people recovering from mental health issues to have greater access to the art world. ArtCo also gives other artists in the community an opportunity to exhibit and showcase their work. Our focus is on original, affordable arts and crafts. We believe that art is for everybody. Athlone Art and Heritage is an initiative set up, to manage a number of Art and Heritage sites, facilities and amenities in Athlone. These include Abbey Road Artists’ Studios, Athlone Art Gallery, Athlone Castle, and The John McCormack Experience. Abbey Road Artists’ Studios - The Studios offer a dedicated space in Athlone town for local and visiting artists. It consists of four individual artists’ studios as well as a large multi-purpose upstairs space that hosts a variety of community cultural events including exhibitions, performances, workshops and seminars. Luan Gallery- Athlone’s new municipal visual art gallery on Grace Road. Athlone Castle- Is a major tourist attraction for the town of Athlone. The John McCormack Experience - The artefacts and memorabilia collection for The John McCormack Experience has grown hugely with various Societies and individual relatives of John McCormack donating amazing items to Athlone Town Council now that they know there will be a permanent museum celebrating his life and work.
