The Loft Venue at Mcmahons

Main Street, Maynooth, Kildare ,
Maynooth has been sorely needing a music venue that caters to the community of musicians and music lovers of the creative aspect of music. Maynooth events lack original spark and do not cater to stimulating the more creative souls in our town and surrounding area. With this travesty in mind we are delighted to announce the opening of Maynooths newest music venue, "The Loft". The Loft venue will deliver some of the hottest Irish bands along with showcasing independent and local talents. McMahons Venue aims to bring musical talent of all levels to the already buzzing social scene of Maynooth attracting people of all ages, students, locals and live music lovers. We want musicians from all over as well as surrounding towns ; Celbridge, Leixlip, Lucan, Kilcock, Clane to come enjoy our main nights and see the cream of Irish music in action. One of our more regular themes will be our alternative Tuesdays which will have open mic nights, acoustic gigs and other creative outlets that aren't delivered to punters in and around Maynooth. The opening night of The Loft Venue will be on the 21st of November. Kicking off the events will The Hot Sprockets, one of Ireland's biggest Independent bands. Having a played a festival of top festivals including Indiependence, Electric Picnic & the headline slot at KnockanStockan, Ireland's mecca of independent music. These guys will really rock the place and be sure to kick off the events at McMahons with a bang. Support will come from She's a Beauty who hail from Maynooth and are also successful on the national circuit and just off a grueling festival tour. These sonic engineers are bound to captivate and entertain on the night no doubt setting a standard for the Sprockets to follow. It’s all to play for on the 21st! The Moat Theatre

The Moat Theatre

Abbey Street, Naas, Kildare ,
The Early Days The Moat Club was formed in the early 1950's, its object to provide Naas with suitable facilities for drama and table tennis. In 1960 they bought the recently vacated Christian Brothers School. The building which began life as the first post Penal Days Church in Naas derives its name from an ancient Moat - reputed to have connections with the Kings of Leinster-which is nearby. Using the upper portion as a Table Tennis hall, members began their plans to convert the lower classrooms into a theatre. With a great deal of hard work, a well equipped 125 seat theatre was opened in 1963. This theatre was the home of The Moat Club and served its purpose well for over 40 years. However, as the new millenium approached the Club decided to move with the times. A brand new theatre was planned on the existing site, incorporating the old building at a cost of €3.2m. The Result With lots of hard work and major fund raising, the new Moat Theatre opened its doors officially on the 11th April 2003. It includes a 200 seater auditorium and stage with retractable seating and a fly tower, two rehearsal rooms, male and female dressing rooms and a foyer/coffee shop and bar area. The flexibility of design of the spaces inside allows for multiple use of the various spaces in the building. The Moat Theatre development secured generous funding from the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism and Naas Town Council.
