The Very Small Gallery

The Very Small Gallery

The Very Small Gallery, Bush Craft Yard, Carrick on Shannon ,
On Fri March 11th the “VERY SMALL GALLERY” Opened its doors in the Bush Craft Yard, next to the Bush Hotel in Carrick on Shannon. The Gallery is run by local artist Sandra Vernon who feels that there are not enough galleries in the area to cater for the many artists that live here and being in a high tourist area, not enough outlets to attract the visitor who would like a small piece of original art as a memento. Not just visitors, but people from the area who will be more than welcome to call in, look around and find out more about the artists and their work. The Very Small Gallery is going to show a wide range of art to allow for all tastes and pockets, from artists both local and further afield. Subjects will include portraits, landscapes, animals, local scenes, photographs and more contemporary work. Apart from original watercolours, oils and drawings there will also be a collection of various prints by different artists. This is a very interesting and affordable way to start a collection of ones own artwork. Often one is stuck for a different idea for a gift or presentation. The Very Small Gallery is gathering a group of artists who specialise in anything from a portrait or favourite pet to the original family home so that you can choose the style and content of picture you want. There will be over 40 artists showing their work when the gallery opens, among them sculptures by Billy Moore, Martin Doyle, Michael Budd; pictures by Heidi Wickham, Roisin Duffy, Pat Hourican, Marie Lee, Cathy Reynolds, to name but a few. The best way to see who is exhibiting is to call into the Gallery . The opening hours will be Weds to Sat, 11am -6pm and out of hours by appointment. For any further information please contact Sandra at 071 9625276, 087 2942853(gallery hours) or email sandra@theverysmall gallery.com.

The Venue Shannon

Shannon Town Centre, Shannon ,
The multi functional Civic & Arts centre is a new opportunity for Shannon. We believe this facility will help make Shannon a better place to live, work and do business in. It will become a focal social and cultural point for residents, employees, industry and visitors alike. It will give a renewed sense of place, purpose and community. With a strong focus on being multi-functional, we are confident that we can meet and exceed the expectations of most, if not all the community groups that exist within the town. Having already received positive feedback and support from the Town Council, Town Manager, the County Council, Shannon Chamber of Commerce and a range of large community groups that would consider using the facility, such as: Shannon Musical Society, Muse Productions, Eclipse, Shannon Gospel Choir, Christian Church and both secondary schools (St Patrick's & St Caimin's).
