Model Aircraft & Related Sports Club

Model Aircraft & Related Sports Club

Castletown Kinneigh , Enniskean ,
History The club was officially launched on the 23rd. July 2013 and was created to try to fill a space, both locational & hobby-related. The aim of the club is to progress the sport (yes, its officially classified as a sport!) in Ireland and introduce not only new members to the sport in general but new, innovative ideas. A central theme of this club is to attract youth with their innante and natural enthusiasm. We lag behind other countries in our relevant resources and facilities - so let's try to do something about that. The name sets the theme which is to have fun. Let’s try Kombat with foamie flying wings or try to detach balloons from their tethers or fly limbo under a cotton string stretched across the runway. Drop a simple (safe!!!) bomb onto a target? Lots of variations with as many varieties of aircraft as you can imagine, from tiny helicopters to giant gliders. How about night flying when it’s pitch dark and the ‘plane is lit up only by lights on the wings? Surprisingly easy to do. n.b. – we have strict safety rules and dangerous flying will not be tolerated! Does not stop us from enjoying ourselves though!! Why do we have 'Related Sports' in the title? Because we are interested in any aspect of flying. We fly power kites at the site and members of the club also indulge in paragliding and kite buggying. Why not try something new then?
