Established in Sligo Town in 1984, McCormack’s Mace and Fuel Distribution business now supplies Counties Leitrim, Sligo, Cavan, Mayo and Meath with all its daily grocery and fuel needs. But it wasn’t too far from Sligo that John McCormack was born and raised in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim.
McCormack’s started off in the family business run by Barney and Mae, a petrol station and garage on the Carrick road in Drumshanbo. They also operated a thriving farm machinery business, selling and repairing farm machinery throughout the country.
Since opening their first petrol station and tyre store on Mail Coach Road in Sligo 28 years ago, two years later, in 1986, McCormack Fuels was established and providing quality home heating oil, agri fuels, petrol and diesel. The Fuels business has grown over the years and extended into Cavan with the acquisition of Breffni Oil, Killeshandra and in 2009 the acquisition of LMS Oil in Sligo. Today, McCormack’s operate four oil depots in the region with facilities in Carrick-on-Shannon, Ballina, Killeshandra and Finisklin, Sligo.
