Clifden Lifeboat 10k run

The annual Clifden Lifeboat 10k Race takes place on the Sunday 15th September at 2pm. The race is held in memory Of Mikey Mullen, who died at 18 when the MVF St Oliver sank off the south Connemara coast. It was first run in 2008 to raise funds for the Clifden RNLI and has become popular with both serious and leisure runners as well as walkers, with many participants returning every year. It is an out and back which starts and finishes in Clifden and makes its way up the Sky Road, one of the most scenic areas in Connemara. The route was accurately measured by AAI officials, and while it is challenging, there is a category to suit all levels of fitness and a fun and friendly atmosphere is guaranteed for all. An AAI permit was issued for the race in previous years, and one will be applied for again this year. Medals will be given to all finishers. Individuals or teams of 3 or 4 people are welcome. Trophies and prizes for: · First 3 men/women U 40, 40-50, 50+, · First 3 Teams · First 3 walkers.Sponsorship forms are voluntary.
